Adele Jergens

Adele Jergens (1917-2002) was an American actress known for her roles in film and radio. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she gained recognition as “Miss World’s Fairest” at the 1939 New York World’s Fair. Jergens transitioned to Hollywood in the early 1940s, securing a contract with Columbia Pictures. Despite being cast initially as a blonde floozy or burlesque dancer, she showcased her versatility in various roles, including playing Marilyn Monroe’s mother in “Ladies of the Chorus” (1948). Jergens married co-star Glenn Langan in 1949, and they had a son named Tracy. After retiring from acting in 1956, she lived in Camarillo, California, until her death from pneumonia in 2002, just before her 85th birthday. She was laid to rest beside her husband and son at Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Chatsworth, California.
